2017 Desk Reference

The 2017 Edition of the GSNA Building Healthy Children Desk Reference is now online and available.

The Desk Reference is provided as a service to our members as a tool to use when looking for products and services for your school nutrition programs.

It is by no means an attempt to list all companies serving the school nutrition community, only those that are GSNA corporate partners and have provided us with their information.

Because the Desk Reference is only available to GSNA MEMBERS ONLY, you must log-in to your MyGSNA account page on the GSNA webpage to view the Desk Reference.

Message from the President

 #StrongRootsStrongFuture

Hello Family!

It is hard to believe but February is here!  I know this time of year love is in the air and hearts are all a flutter.  I hope that everyone’s year is going well.  Plans are firming up for Jekyll Island 2017 and what a time it will be for all of us!  Please make plans to attend YOUR conference.  It will be a time to learn, network and of course, stick your toes in the sand!  If you have not been to the Island lately it has made an amazing transformation.

I hope that my monthly messages have made you feel like you are not alone in the great world of School Nutrition.  I have heard from several and know that you have found your branches on the tree of nutrition knowledge and you are growing.  One way to expand your growth is through the GSNA Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy has had a great group of people go through it. I encourage you to enroll in that class when registration opens.  Don’t think for a moment that it is not for you.  I am a product of the Leadership Academy and I felt the same way.  I know my advisor Karen Green shook her head a time or two at me during the classes.  I can’t tell you how it helps you in your day to day work as well.  It is not just for the association it is for you to become more confident within yourself.  I promise you will come away with more than you could imagine.  Take a leap you might just be surprised!

I want you to know that I understand that we all struggle and that includes myself.  My School Nutrition Family means the world to me.  Watching you implement new ideas and concepts for Georgia’s Children is wonderful.  I know a lot of you are on Facebook and I hope that even if you are just a Facebook stalker that you become friends with programs all across the state.  I am sure even if you are a small or big system you will find one thing that will work for you.  It all starts with a step, not a leap off the cliff.  I keep a sign in my office that says, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”.  School Nutrition Employees are the most committed individuals I know and we have and will still move mountains!

 GSNA President 2016-2017

Volunteer!

We have had a great first day with lots of our members signing up to be an ANC Volunteer.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Remember to sign up for a total of 8 hours and then registration information will be sent to you.

Also, several have asked about the meeting on Thursday for volunteers. If you are not coming in until Saturday or Sunday, then no worries. Laura Lynn and others will be available to meet with you to go over your responsibilities.  We don’t want the meeting time to be the reason you don’t sign up!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Laura Lynn at gsnavolunteer17@gmail.com or call her office at 912-462-6109.

To receive a 50% discount on your ANC registration, you must be a National SNA member and volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours (minimum of 2-hour shift increments) over the dates prior and/or during the conference, July 9–12. A volunteer registration form will be emailed to you once we have received confirmation that you have selected the minimum number of hours to volunteer via the SignUpGenius link emailed to you.

You should receive the volunteer link directly from SignUpGenius following this email; if you do not receive the link, please contact SNA Director of Meetings, Sara Kilkenny, so she can resend it to you: skilkenny@schoolnutrition.org or (301)-686-3146.
