Message from the President

 #StrongRootsStrongFuture

Happy New Year!

I hope this newsletter finds everyone well and ready to take on 2017!  I can’t believe how quickly my year as President is flying by me.  I have several meetings to attend and I am super excited to see everything that is being accomplished.  Each New Year brings hope and a fresh start.  I am not just talking about resolutions but maybe just life changes in general.

As we go through our business of serving the next generation of students, I want you to   take some time out of your day and focus on yourself. Most of us don’t spend time on ourselves or may think it is wrong to look out for number one. Someone recently told me that “if you are not your best in life then how can you give life your best”. That was my “light bulb” moment to start living life more freely. I started thinking about what I wanted out of life and what it would take to get me there. My youngest daughter said it best to me “do you Mom” let others do themselves!! Our career is a pressure cooker most days with no way to release the steam that is in all parts of our lives. We all need to find our spout and what helps relieve the stress. So out of the mouth of my baby…take some time and “do you”!!

The 2017 Annual Conference is just right around the corner!  I hope you are planning to join us on the beach! Our wish is that this conference gives you the spark that you need to grow not only professionally, but also in your personal life. So all of you “peaches of Georgia school nutrition” get ready to celebrate the BEST of school nutrition and YOUR year of excellence!

This journey that all members are taking with me has been one that is hard to even put into words.  Just when I think I can’t be impressed anymore by the work being done across the state, I am proven wrong. I am astonished at the excellence that is served each day in your schools. Each and every one of you are important in order to make your system the best it can be.  We all have hiccups along the way but our School Nutrition family is there to pat us on the back!  We all need to hear a “thanks” or “good job.”  So I am saying to this great state of the best School Nutrition Employees “Great job”.  Always be kind to each other even when it is hard and especially when Sally steals your cart!
