Message from the 2017-2018 President
#The Journey

Happy New Year! I am sure many of you have made and possibly already broken your New Year’s Resolutions. Did you think about and make any GSNA Resolutions for the New Year? Have you thought about all the possibilities that lie before you? Or do you say…that’s impossible?

Recently, the GA SNP used Audrey Hepburn’s quote, “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m Possible!” So I challenge you to SEARCH what is on the horizon for GSNA and determine what will help NOURISH who you are as a member, professional and a person. As an association, we want to help you GROW so that you ACHIEVE all that you see as impossible and be able to stand and say I’m Possible!

We just had a phenomenal Equipment Academy in Perry, Georgia. Thank you to all who braved the weather and showed up to learn about the equipment in our kitchens. Although many states talk about this one of a kind event, no one has even attempted to do what Georgia does….many kudos to all the members and industry partners who have over the years made this a one of a kind learning experience.

Soon we will all be gathering at the state capital for Georgia LAC. Registration is still open and we’d like to see you all there. Cheryl Jones, GSNA State PPL Chair is working tirelessly with GSNA Legislative Consultant Mary Frances Williams to make sure that this conference will teach, motivate and inspire all of us to advocate for ALL School Nutrition Programs across the state. There is STILL time to join us! (Click here for registration information)

The Heart of School Nutrition is the School Level Employees. They are the ones that truly make a difference every day with a kind word and delicious food. School Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) will be held during Valentines week in 4 different locations. These locations were chosen so that as many members as possible could maximize this opportunity. There is STILL time to get your registration in, so don’t delay!

I am super proud that Debra Morris felt my enthusiasm in providing a study group for the SNS Credentialing Exam. She has put many hours into research and communication with those who have taken the exam to provide the best possible panel of leaders for the 12 week sessions of learning. This training will be a valuable tool for those taking the test at our state conference in April! We have already had great participation and response to our three sessions.

Lastly, we will make our way to Savannah…our final destination of this year’s GrowSearchNourishAchieve Journey. There is so much buzz about our educational sessions, awesome exhibits, out of the box speakers, awards galore and our night of Swingin’ on the River with the Swingin’ Medallions (Thanks to our corporate sponsors!@IngeniousCC, @JTMfoodgroup, @petersonfarmsinc pace@pacereps.com and sales@acf.co). You don’t want to miss this extraordinary opportunity so make your reservations and complete your registration now! #Destination18

As we settle back into the most rewarding as well as most demanding career, I leave you with this quote from Charles Dickens, “The most important thing in life is to stop saying “I wish” and start saying “I will”, consider nothing impossible. Then treat possibilities as probabilities”.

With Much Love,

Laura Lynn, President 2017-2018
"Grow, Search, Nourish, Achieve…Let the Journey Begin”
