President's Message

Dear Miracle Makers,

As we enter November I can’t help but reflect on all the wonderful learning events we enjoyed in October. Managers enjoyed both a GaDOE Manager’s Conference and a relaxing GSNA Manager’s Retreat at Epworth By the Sea on Saint Simons. The GSNA Crop Show was amazing followed by two awesome days of learning at the GaDOE Director’s Conference. I am so thankful to both the GaDOE and GSNA for all the hard work and organization that went into bringing in talented speakers and for making us feel comfortable and preparing us to be ready to learn, just as we do for our students each day. The talent and the willingness to share those gifts to your fellow school nutritional professionals is like none in any other profession. So, as we enter November and we approach the Thanksgiving Holidays I would ask you what you are thankful for and how can you serve others during this holiday season.

Thankfulness: When I think about what I am thankful for my mind always gravitates to my family and how grateful I am to have two beautiful sons and a wonderful husband of 33 years. However, my blessings go way past my family and include having a job that I am excited to go to each day, three meals a day, a warm bed to sleep in, a safe house to come home to and friends that are always there for me day or night. Unfortunately, many of our students are not blessed with a safe house to come home to each day and three meals a day are not something that are promised. So, miracle makers we have one more amazing blessing and that is that we have an opportunity this holiday season to change that within and outside our cafeteria walls.

Sharing the Blessings: Wouldn’t it be amazing to furnish students and their families with Thanksgiving Baskets that would ensure they not only have a great Thanksgiving Day dinner, but also have food for the whole week. How about serving at a food bank on Thanksgiving Day or offering a meal at your school. How about taking a meal to the first responders that are guarding our communities each day, even the holidays? When we look at blessings the ones we receive when we serve others are always so much greater than the initial act of giving. So, I ask you and me how can we be Equipped to Serve this Thanksgiving Holiday and how can we make a difference in someone’s life this season.

So, Miracle Makers are you ready to receive the ultimate blessing by serving others with love, kindness and an open heart this Thanksgiving Holiday.

Ready, Set, Go!

2018-2019 President
