Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
(Preferred): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

  • 3-5 years or more of related experience working with school foodservice accounts
  • Experience working with brokers and national manufacturers
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 

    Maintain and develop portfolio of assigned school districts
  • Compliance with national and state nutritional regulations
  • Plan sales calls based on quarterly objectives
  • Report all sales calls in FSP
  • Foster and maintain strong customer and client relationships
  • Respond timely to internal/external questions and information requests
  • Participate in food shows, client and industry meetings
  • Manage commodity balances and drawdown for assigned segment and clients

    Position Title: Director of Culinary Services
    Department: Food and Nutrition
    Reports to: Assistant Superintendent           
    Position Summary: The Director of Food and Nutrition Services provides leadership and direction for the management and supervision of the Culinary Services Department in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and polices.
    Education:  Master Degree required
    • Must hold or be eligible for the Georgia School Nutrition Director Certificate
    • ServSafe Certification through National Restaurant Association
    • Minimum three years administration/supervisory experience preferred
    • Minimum five years school food service for a school district or agency experience preferred

    • Communicate effectively and promote good public relations with students, parents, and coworkers, and community stakeholders

    The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
    1. Establishes procedures for assessing the effectiveness of the program in providing a nutritionally adequate and educationally sound school food service program
    2. Establishes and implements procedures for budgeting, fiscal recording, accounting, and reporting
    3. Monitors income and expenditures of program funds
    4. Administers and directs the implementation of the School Nutrition Program within the district in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, laws and policies
    5. Effectively manages school nutrition personnel including recruiting and developing the capability of staff by leading job embedded professional learning
    6. Develops menus that are nutritious, appealing, and cost effective
    7. Oversees nutrient analysis of menus
    8. Oversees the free and reduced priced meal benefit process
    9. Reviews, develops, and implements department efficiency, safety, and sanitation standards
    10. Coordinates maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment
    11. Collaborates with Executive Director of Facilities to develop specifications for new or renovated facilities including equipment specifications and layout
    12. Implements system wide energy management guidelines
    13. Evaluates, selects and implements computer software programs that enhance the efficiency of the SNP
    14. Coordinates competitive bidding and purchasing processes for acquisition of food, supplies, service and equipment
    15. Manages the development and maintenance of an effective communication and public relations program for customers and stakeholders
    16. Exhibits leadership through collaboration, modeling of openness and integrity, empowering others and leading through values and vision
    17. Performs other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
    Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.
    WORK DAYS: 240
    COMPENSATION RANGE: $66,644 - $101,442*
    *Salary is commensurate with experience.
