February 2020 Newsletter: Meet.Progress.Learn in 2020

Message from the President

Meetings & Events Calendar

Greetings GSNA Members,

It is hard to imagine that we are celebrating February 2020 and the end of my year as your GSNA President is fast approaching. Members have been hard at work completing each task on the local and district plans of action, I see GOLD in lots of futures during the scroll award at annual conference coming up in April in Augusta.

Equipment Academy in Perry Georgia in January was a huge success. Attendees learned valuable information during the two and half day training that will guide them in making sound financial decisions when procuring equipment for replacement in an existing school or for building new schools in the district. Thank you to all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this spectacular event such a success and thank you to all who attended.

Our School Nutrition Assistant training last week in Valdosta and Macon were great and very informative for the attendees. Thank you to our School Level Chair James "Bear" Bryant for planning this event and to our talented members that shared their knowledge with our members.

We are looking forward to the 2020 Culinary Competition at Helm’s College on February 19th – good luck to all participants.

Don’t forget that March 24-25, 2020 is our GSNA Legislative Advocacy Conference at the Marriott Conference Center in downtown Decatur Georgia. Alyssia Wright, Executive Director of Nutrition in Fulton County Schools and 2019-2020 GSNA-PPL Chair, has a power packed agenda for attendees on the 24th and a full day at the Georgia Capitol on the 25th to visit your state representatives. Be sure to contact your state representative or legislator to schedule an appointment for a visit on March 25th.

As you can see we have accomplished a lot so far and have so much in store for you in 2020!

Don’t forget to visit the GSNA website where you will find more information on the membership drive, awards and nominations applications, and news and resources.

Thank you for all you do.
