"This Virtual Life"

 From the President

Well, we have made it to the anticipated 2021. I am sure many of us thought we would step into this year as if to be stepping off the set of a bad dream leaving many of us to ponder, where are those ruby red slippers when you need them to take us away from this nightmare?

The world is still in disarray and although our lives are still operating in survival mode, we can attest we can see the approach of the end of the school year in the horizon. We have made it to our halfway point. By this time, many of us feel like The Little Engine that Could “I think I can…I think I can…” You are almost there!

Usually by this point, GSNA’s Annual Spring Conference starts dancing in our heads. Most of us across the state start gearing up anxiously to fellowship with missed dear friends. Some of us also look to conference as a “getaway” a retreat to rejuvenate for the upcoming year by allowing us to break from our current routines.

One cannot deny the experiences conference offers are not just about the opportunities to learn and glean, although important, but offers an opportunity to relax, breathe and let your guard down amongst friends and create those lasting memorable moments.

Although we may not be meeting up this spring, please know that we at GSNA are in the planning process to offer a spectacular face-to-face conference in the fall.

Our education team is brainstorming on upcoming Webinars for opportunities to earn certification units and platforms to network. Our Industry to include several board members are collaborating on ideas to boost our association’s revenue and strategies for marketing. In addition, our Public Policy and Legislative team are vigilantly working on our Virtual Legislative Action Conference that will kick off in March to include literature that expresses our battles and stories from around the state as “essential” workers.

With everything dormant across our state, know that GSNA is well, alive and thriving. We have a dynamic team of women in our Tucker office that have been holding down the fort and holding up our organization while many of you are on the frontlines making daily miracles. Therefore, it is imperative I say to this team of professionals, a heartfelt thank you.

To our industry, nutrition professionals and members across the state, YOU are amazing. Thank you for your patience, understanding and willingness to change and adapt. To say the least, I am humbled to go down in history as the first “Virtual President” of this magnificent organization.

Until we are in each other’s presence again, stay safe, enjoy every moment and stay blessed.

Your Virtual President
