"Transitions"

From the President

The holiday season is upon us!

What I love about the holiday season is the change that takes place during the beginning of its transition. The leaves start to turn those magnificent colors of orange, red, yellow and brown as they make their way to the ground. The weather starts becoming a bit cooler allowing for more relaxed clothing. There is a sense of family and togetherness in the air as we start preparing for the upcoming holidays that will bring familiar smells of holiday fare. The season brings about a spirit of tradition.

Just thinking about the seasons changing, time with family and friends and those old yet familiar traditional recipes that I am so anxious to indulge myself in, makes one forget about the changes happening around us.

We have come such a long way in School Nutrition over the last few months. A few months ago our “today’s” seemed impossible. Yet, all across the state of Georgia YOU have turned an impossible situation into something familiar for our students. YOU have made them forget that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and have given them a sense of family and togetherness.

Yes, the “work” has been difficult, it has been challenging and exhausting. However, if we were to take time to pause, reflect and focus, we would realize the amazing work we have accomplished.

The world is changing. There is no way we will be able to go back to the way things were, nor should we want to. What used to be “traditional” in our programs has made room for innovation. School Nutrition is finding itself in its rightful place in the hearts of our communities by adapting to these changes all because of people like YOU!

As we transition into the next chapter of this year, I would like to encourage each of you to take the time to pause, reflect and focus in your own lives as well. Take time for yourselves and enjoy those little moments that allow you to forget your current situation. Find the time to relax and breathe!

I personally want to thank each of you in every part of our operation who contributed to the success of our programs maintaining its stability and its mission for feeding children. It takes every branch of our organization to pull off the many miracles we make every day. We are truly a band of Soldiers!

In the spirit of the season stay safe, continue to live blessed and cherish the moments around you.
